Tenganan village is just 4KM uphill from Candidasa Beach, this is the village of Bali Aga people, descendants of the original Balinese who inhabited Bali prior to the Majapahit arrival. Tenganan village covering the area almost 900ha with population in the village around 600 peoples, this is consider the rich villager because of land belonging is very wide compare then other villages in Bali. Tenganan village is surrounded by a mountain wall as protection from modern influence. The Bali Aga are reputed to be exceptionally conservative and resistant to change but even here the modern age has not been totally adopted. The human life here is very traditional one, that is become highlight of viting Tenganan village. A traditional version of gamelan known as the gamelan selonding is still played here, and the girls dance an equally ancient dance known as the Rejang. During Tenganan festival, many tourist come to witness this ancient activities. Visiting to Tenganan, the visitor don't buy the entrance ticket, but just donate as they want for the cultural preservation.
